Cards @ Cubs Game Three Preview.

August 10, 2008

After yesterdays Cardinal smackdown of the Cubs and Big Z’s worst performance ever against the redbirds to go along with a ugly display on the mound by a few other Cubbie pitchers and why not sprinkle in a few of my own disasters yesterday.

Following a little bit of Mikeys format yesterday:

1.I was pissed from the very start of the game.

2.A good friend of mine did not make it to the game because of my screw-up!

3.And like Mikey yesterday i was a victim, not of nagging but of many other things that just made it a all around shitty day and night from start to end,but this is a blog about today’s preview so i don’t wanna cluster it with nonsense.

Moving right along as i sit here in front of my computer writing this still peeved about the things that turned my day into shit yesterday, well lets get to the game preview.

Ryan Dempster

  • #46 RHP
  • (12-5) 2.93 ERA 133 SO

Cubs: Dempster should be well-rested for this start. He matched his shortest outing of the season, five innings, in Monday’s loss to Houston, but it was Mother Nature’s fault. The Cubs-Astros game on Monday was halted by a thunderstorm at the start of the sixth for two hours and 45 minutes. They played two more innings before it was called for good. Dempster gave up two runs against the Astros to fall to 10-2 at home in 2008. He has yet to face the Cardinals this season, but he is very familiar with winning at Wrigley Field.

Well as you can see above that tells us nothing.

I could try to dig into last year but it would come up with a total different scenario with Dempster being a closer last year and a starter this year thus making all of us reading this a little more ill informed.

Chris Carpenter

  • #29 RHP
  • (0-0) 1.00 ERA 4 SO

Cardinals: This will be Carpenter’s third start since returning from the disabled list, where he had spent the entire season. He has allowed one run on eight hits in nine innings so far. He went deeper into the game — completing five innings — in his last start than he did the start prior, in which he lasted four innings.

well this time i won’t even bother to put up the stats for Carpenter since the off-injured pitcher has never faced the cubs this year or last year.

I know very little information to go off of so lets hope the Cubs return to form and bring the bats today or Jim Edmonds kicks a little more ass,Even more maybe Dempster can continue to dominate at Wrigley this year…..Yes a lot of “if’s” or “maybe’s”.
