Cubs a Four Letter Word…Offensive? Hardly.

The Cubs have turned into the San Francisco Giants. For the second straight game the Cubs had ZERO offense from their offensive players. The only run came from CARLOS ZAMBRANO. The All Star Break has had the opposite effect on the Cubs…getting healthy and getting some rest has instead iced down what was a hot offense going into the break.

Nine hits are a bit decieving. Theriot had three, and Zambrano’s HR was another. That leaves five hits for the rest of the offense. Aramis continued to struggle and is 0-8 in the series….Fukudome 1-8….Lee 1-8. Ten strikeouts could be a telling statistic as the batters seem to be pressing a bit, trying to shake of the “cobwebs” that crept in.

The series is lost already and the Cubs will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow. Brandon Backe and the winless on the road Ryan Dempster are the pitchers. Who knows…maybe since Demp’s home unbeaten streak was snapped before the end of the All Star Break…Just maybe his road losing streak will go by the wayside too…..Like I have said in previous post regarding Dempster – He wasnt going to go 15-0 at home…surely he won’t go 0-15 on the road.
