No Offense…But the Cubs are Losers

A leadoff double in the bottom of the ninth and a bloop single was just enough to outlast the Cubs tonight 2-1 for the Huston Astros. Ted Lilly and Astros starter Brian Moehler were solid tonight each going seven strong and both allowing only one run.

Lee, Fukudome, and Ramirez were a combined 0-12.

All Star Break hangover perhaps?

Edmonds homered for the Cubs in the fifth and kept up his solid contribution, and as predicted Carlos Lee homered in the bottom of the seventh off of Lilly …who in retrospect was left in maybe just a little too long by Lou Piniella.

The Astros are leading the season series 4-3….and stats being stats, is why we pick the Cubs to win eight of the last eleven games from Huston.

Check in earlier for the game preview. We will be posting rather early as we will be taking in the British Open while previewing tomorrows game.
